Cotmeana Monastery - Arges County, Cotmeana

Driving down the Olt Valley, i noticed a road sign that said that i was only 5km away from a monastery. I said that it is a good occasion for a driving break and a mind reboot.. I was right and actually managed to find the oldest monastery in Wallachia(the old romanian country). All you need to know about it's history is in the next picture. The place is just beautiful.

The Evangelia Shipwreck - Costinesti, Constanta County

A sunrise at the sea is different from coastline to coastline, from city to city, from one beach, to the other.
But when you add a shipwreck in the view and some concrete bunkers it's a totally different sight.
The actual marble is the shipwreck, and not quite the sunrise. This is an old ship from the 1940s, built in the same shipyard as the titanic, Belfast, that got too close to shore in the late 1960s.
It's just a tragic sigh and it's worth the walk on the beach to see it closer, if you plan on having a holiday in the area. There are also some tourist boats that can take you close to it. The transport can be found on the shore of  the Costinesti Lake at 43°56'53.7"N 28°38'12.6"E

If you are traveling in Salaj County, in in the neighbouring areas, you should really check out the Botanic garden in Jibou.
It's a beautiful place to lose yourself, in the 25 acres of solariums, aquarium, palace, deer forest, chinese garden and many others. If it's a beautiful day outside, take 2-3 hours to visit this beautiful garden, that was first opened in 1986. It is home to many exotic plants, including a palm tree that has been planted there at before the opening date. Read about it, and then go and get lost in the beauty.

Motel Restaurant Millenium, Bihor County

For all the travelers that pass through Bihor County on the E671/DN79, there is an incredibly relaxing and beautiful place to have a pit-stop, eat or drink, or even have a nap.
I have had several time the pleasure of taking a break at the beautiful restaurant Millenium. It's an oasis for travelers, with beautiful ponds, swans, birds, rabbits, ducks and other animals, and a great serving and presentation. The food is made as traditionally as possible and the ambiance is friendly. Kids, family and friends will thank you for the great ideea of stopping there for lunch(for example)

"Octavian Goga" Memorial Museum

I was just driving along on my trip back home (Arad) and I noticed something that rang a bell. I noticed a building on the side of the road and a road sign that said "Historical monument - Virgin Mary's birth monastery". It was a on the 10th of august and it caught my eye mostly because it was 5 days away from the 15th of August (the falling asleep of Virgin Mary). I had to visit it.
To my surprise, it was actually the home and death bed and, currently, mausoleum/tomb of Octavian Goga, famous romanian writer.
The complete area is an incredible place filled with history and beauty. The first step inside is a thing of beauty, the entrance in the area being of one the famous wooden gates of Maramures county

Hatfaludy Mansion in Hida, Salaj County

This caught my attention. It's an impressive mansion in a village in Salaj. Placed up on a hill on the side of the main road, it's a sight that impresses and brigs sadness in the eyes of the people. Such a mansion would be great if it would be reconditioned.

A "look-out-point" over any city is a thing of beauty, no matter the time of day or weather. Here are a few snapshot of what you can see when you choose to climb  on the hill that is home to the Belvedere Hotel of Cluj-Napoca, the area being called "Cetatuia Park"

Devil's Rock - Hida, Salaj County

On my way from Cluj-Napoca to Jibou, I have noticed a strange rock....

The geological formation is called the "devil's rock". It is surrounded by local legends, one of them being the root of it's name: it is said that a demon/devil was once furious with the villagers and brought the rock in the village, when a rooster started it's early morning call and the devil dropped the rock, scared of the coming morning and the possible power of the rooster.
